Mangbetu Woman - Congo, 1924 Photographer:
Unidentified photographer of the Citroën Expedition Ref:
SK00448
The Citroen Expedition was an incredible 20000km trek across the continent of Africa (during a time when no roads existed) in vehicles designed and manufactured by André Citroen (founder of the car company with his name). This beautiful portrait, taken by one of the amateur photographers who participated in this journey, is of a Mangbetu woman whom they met while traveling through the area known today as the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
