Krukut River in Batavia - Java, circa 1870 Photographer:
Woodburry & Page Ref:

This photograph, taken by the firm of Woodbury & Page (founded by British expatriates Walter Woodbury and James Page), was taken from a bridge that used to span the Krukut river in the northern part of the city of Batavia (currently Jakarta) on the island of Java. The river in this spot was filled in around the turn of the 20th century, and the bridge on which the photographer would have been standing was demolished, but, thankfully, the beauty of the image remains.
