Bridge of the Arts  -  Paris, circa 1860
Photographer: Claude-Marie Ferrier
Ref: SK06669

Claude-Marie Ferrier was an extremely well known French photographer who created a collection of more than 10000 photographs, mainly taken in France. In 1855 he exposed at the Universal Exposition in Paris where his images,, of an unequalled quality and finesse, created a sensation. This rare photograph shows Paris during the Second Empire (the regime of Napoleon III) taken on the Pont des Arts (Bridge of the Arts) and was one of the first views of Paris to be commercially successful.
